DC Universe's Doom Patrol is back for Season 2! Except now, it's freshly rebranded as an HBO Max original, and the newly launched would-be streaming giant just debuted a Season 2 trailer clearly targeted at introducing a new audience to the series. I'd say it's pretty dang effective! In full honesty, I haven't caught Doom Patrol yet. The live-action superhero series quickly emerged as the breakout hit on DC's in-house streaming service (though their underrated animated Harley Quinn series is downright excellent,) earning critical acclaim and a passionate fandom built around …
Three Bolivian boys ended up hospitalized after they let a black widow bite them in the hopes they would gain super powers a la Spider-Man.
There are certain pockets of the Pittsburgh area where, once you've set foot in them, it feels like you've traveled back in time. Having lived there for more than a decade myself, I know how progressive certain parts of the city have become, especially as it tries to distance itself from a polluted past, but it's a fact that some regions remain stuck in that same past, unable or unwilling to move forward. That's what makes the 'burgh a perfect setting for the darkly comic coming-of-age story, I Am Not Okay with This, which …
At first glance, Netflix's new super-powered teen series I Am Not Okay with This seems to be an obvious companion to Stranger Things. Not only do the two shows share producers and feature young girls with mystifying powers, but I Am Not Okay with This also stars two of the child actors of the IT films (Sophia Lillis and Wyatt Oleff, who co-starred in the blockbuster films alongside Stranger Things' Finn Wolfhard), has a distinctly 80s vibe (despite its contemporary setting), and contains a pointed Stephen King nod within its opening moments: a shell-shocked Sydney (Lillis) …
Stephen Amell and Robbie Amell are cousins. They're both huge parts of the Arrowverse, with Stephen playing the title role on Arrow and Robbie playing Firestorm in The Flash. And in 2016, the two made a short, proof-of-concept sci-fi short film called Code 8 as proof to investors that their original story was something worth expanding into a feature. Now, three years later, the creative cousins have their full-length version of the idea ready to watch in theatres or On Demand December 13. And they've got a trailer to boot. Directed by Jeff Chan, …
The first trailer for Raising Dion, the new Netflix Original Series from executive producer/star Michael B. Jordan, plays like a teaser for a big-screen story, but fans will be getting much more when the superhero tale arrives on Netflix next month. The story, based on the comic by Dennis Liu who also co-directs, follows a family trying to deal with the newly developed superpowers of their young son, Dion. And while the trailer is spoilery for certain major elements of the story, some of which are a little tropey and predictable, overall the tone is sweeter than …
Joss Whedon’s new HBO series The Nevers is one step closer to heading to the screen. In addition to the previously announced cast member Laura Donnelly (Outlander), the principal cast has now been revealed along with the characters they'll be playing and their descriptions. It’s the best look at just what Whedon’s project will be about since it received a straight-to-series order from the premium network this time last year. Expect the "Victorian-era X-Men" story to start production soon. As Variety reports, The Nevers is described as "an epic science fiction drama …
Warner Bros. has released a new TV spot for its upcoming superhero romp Shazam!, featuring a solid amount of brand new footage. Zachary Levi and Jack Dylan Grazer are definitely all in on the charm department as the aged-up Billy Batson and his equally alliterative sidekick, Freddy Freeman. But I'm mostly intrigued by the very Man of Steel-looking fight above a city happening between Billy and the villainous Dr. Thaddeus Sivana, played by Mark Strong. So far, most of the Shazam! marketing has focused on the lighthearted tone of the film—this trailer largely does as well—…
