No movie is perfect. Even The Godfather has some mistakes in its 3-hour runtime. Still, there is usually so much to enjoy in a film, that it's easy to overlook the questions it leaves unanswered. After all, You can usually get so invested in a film's story, that those little lapses in logic really make no difference at all. You might not even think about them until you get home from the theater, open your fridge, and try to find yourself a snack. Only then might you start asking questions, or saying "wait a minute, that didn't make sense when..." It doesn't mean the film was bad by any measure. In fact, a lot of films that have been famously praised as being classics are filled with plotholes and lingering questions.
With Game of Thrones coming to an end in its eighth season, it feels like the end of an era. Based on the novel series, A Song of Ice and Fire, by George R.R. Martin, the mature fantasy saga is one of HBO's biggest hits, adored by critics and audiences alike. Season Seven's ratings hit an all-time, record-breaking high of 30 million viewers per episode; an extraordinary achievement for a premium cable channel and in an age where traditional television is facing fierce competition from streaming services. After seven seasons of would-be monarchs, ice zombies and dragon babies — plus some of the most surprising twists in TV history — the stakes are high for the show to go on out a bang bigger than an explosion of wildfire.
It's hard to believe that Avatar: The Last Airbender wrapped up over a decade ago. (Feel old, yet?) The Nickelodeon animated series grew a huge baseman of both young and older viewers during its three-year run and this popularity hasn't waned one bit since it went off the air. In fact, as more time goes by, the more highly-regarded its legacy becomes, propelling it to the hallowed "modern classic" status few cartoons of its era have been able to achieve. Of course, we haven't exactly been starved for new Avatar content since The Last Airbender saga concluded. Aang, Zuko, Katara, Sokka, and Toph's adventures have continued in comic book form, as well as — with the exception of Sokka — their older, future selves in the sequel series that followed Aang's Avatar successor: The Legend of Korra.
Well, Captain Marvel is finally upon us. Be warned that full spoilers follow for the movie as we discuss everything it left ambiguous or downright inconsistent about the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
