Many J.R.R. Tolkien fans already encountered an unseen television adaptation of the author's fantasy novels earlier this year. A Soviet-produced TV movie based on The Lord of the Rings has reemerged online, thirty years after its original air date.

Chernobyl isn't the only event from the Soviet union deserving of an HBO miniseries. Several other tragedies should also be adapted for television.
