Beginner | Action-packed from the start, Widows does its best to take you through a twisted heist story with female leads. The city of Chicago is a definite character in the film and makes for a refreshing backdrop in today's age of LA, NY, and international settings. Viola Davis dominates the picture, while Daniel Kaluuya explores the dark side. Some will feel the runtime is too long and pacing is an issue at moments. Others will point out some convenient events (or timing gliches, maybe even plot holes) that keep this movie out of the conversation for one of the best of the year, but it's a great movie if you're a forgiving fan of film looking for an original storyline. | Jan 22, 2019 |
