Belle Reve Penitentiary is one of the DC Universe's most prominent prisons and has long been synonymous with Amanda Waller and Task Force X aka Suicide Squad. Created in Suicide Squad #1 by John Ostrander and Luke McDonnell, it is a special facility designed to house meta-human criminals and is located in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana. Many of the prisoners are offered reduced sentences if they take part in the Squad's black-ops missions and have bombs implanted in their heads that Waller can detonate if they get out of line while on mission.
