It brings together all of the traditional pieces of a classic family friendly sports movie, but it doesn’t end up doing more than the expected with them.
Please give Lilo & Stitch the credit it deserves for breaking ground in animated Disney movies.

Given the surfeit of commercially haunted real estate Halloween that’s come to occupy today’s pop culture landscape, you hardly need us to tell you there'll be more spooky content available this month than any one person could watch in a whole year of Octobers. And yet, while everyone and their great aunt can expect to stumble on at least one Tim Burton marathon when flipping through Freeform’s annual 31 Nights of Halloween ghouls-travaganza, we recognize that the recent explosion of streaming services, matched with necessity of keeping a whole family entertained night after night during …

Netflix has revealed the trailer for A Babysitter's Guide to Monster Hunting, a kid-friendly creature-feature from Rachel Talalay, director of Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, Tank Girl, and like every genre show ever made in the meantime. Babysitter's Guide stars Tamara Smart (Are You Afraid of the Dark?) as a high-schooler who gets roped into a secret society of babysitters who protect humanity from things that go bump in the night. The film, which is based on Joe Ballarini's book series, also stars Tom Felton, Indya Moore, Ian Ho, and Oona Laurence. [caption …
Universal is continuing to expand its Monsters universe in interesting ways by bringing in Toy Story 4 director Josh Cooley to direct the family-friendly Little Monsters. To be clear, this is an original film, and not a reboot of the Howie Mandel / Fred Savage movie, which is a mistake I absolutely made. [caption id="attachment_787696" align="alignright" width="360"] Image via Disney/Pixar[/caption] As reported by THR, the movie will be a live-action hybrid featuring characters from the entire history of Universal’s monster movies, based on designs by concept artist Crash McCreery. If you're still looking for the first great film adaptation of a video game, I regret to inform you that Sonic the Hedgehog is not it. While the title character certainly looks far better than his horrifying first iteration, the overall film fits neatly into a safe buddy, road-trip comedy that kids can enjoy with a recognizable video game mascot being silly. While some video game properties have started to lean into their weirdness like Pokemon: Detective Pikachu and The Angry Birds Movie, Jeff Fowler's adaptation works to be as palatable as possible, and on that level, …
As the Cats movie musical continues to flounder at the box office among human audiences, some theaters are offering dog-friendly screenings.
Season 3 of DreamWorks' wild and wonderful animated series Harvey Girls Forever added the fan-favorite Richie Rich to the cast, but Season 4 is poised to add the most familiar face yet. The Netflix series from co-creators Emily Brundige and Brendan Hay have already done a phenomenal job at focusing on the trio of Lotta, Audrey, and Dot as the title team while also vastly expanding the cast of characters to include just about every Harvey Street kid you can think of. The show has also fully embraced the fun, fantasy, and sometimes far-out storytelling driven by …
